On the cover of Don Brocos digipak they have used a bold image of the cd title. this is effective because by suing a bold pink/ red for this it allows there to be a central focus point on the digipak. by including an image of them sat by a pool this allows the idea of power and wealth to be portrayed in the shot. I believe that this very basic design ahs allowed them to achieve a specific genre to their style.

they have used a six side digipak this is effective as this allow them to include lot of different photos. in the first open of the pack they have used  an action shot of them all playing their instruments. the use of red fog has been used to create a matching effect to the title that is on the front cover.

in the fully opened design his has allowed them to use a panoramic shot of the pool and the band members. this again has allowed them to be shown in a wealthy way. the use of a wide angled shot ahs allowed them to show themselves and the surrounding area. they are all wearing whiter head to toe this is suggesting perfection and empowerment this is reinforced because of the genre of power that they are portraying through their digipak.

the use of full body images contrasts males dominant digipak this is because they tend to have images that are not of the artist however by including full body images of the clothing this enables the viewer to see what style the band members chosen with clothing it is also effective because this makes ther viewers able to copy the style and view it in their own way.

on the back they have used a very basic track list style this is important because tis has allowed them to use white text and this has been used to stand out from the surrounding design. overall the use of the pool side setting ahs allowed them to be shown in a powerful and empowered way. this is effective because this is allowing the viewer to have a full view from different angles they style and images that they are using top achieve their desired look to their digipak and music video genre.

Digipak Representations

Representation between genres vary. this is because of the style that will appeal to the targeted audience. on digipaks they include different images that can be used to represents and appeal to the target audience. the use of images allow the viewer to make a connection wit the artist and allows them to understand the digipak how they want.


In Arctic Monkeys EP Mardy Bum they have used an image on the cover of a man smoking and then the CD is covered in used cigarettes this is effective because this is representation to the viewer the alternative and rebellious side to the band and the style that they have used. from this cover this could reflect that they are portraying themselves as a bad habit like smoking.

The use of colors and fonts can be used to represent the artist in Katy Perry's albums she uses pink bubbly writing hen her name is on the album this is used to reflect her girly style. this effective because this is allowing her representation to be seen as a feminine and pretty style that will appeal to her target audience.

Male and female artists represent themselves in contrasting ways however the genre and the style that they do is what effects the products and how they present them. i think that the use of different imaginary and even different colors is how bands represent themselves in different ways.

Digipak Conventions

A digipak is a CD style casing for albums. the design is created specifically to the artists style and genre.

They normally include the following features:

• They have a gate fold like a book
• They are made form card or paper and the inner packing from plastic
• They tend to be used when special editions are released

The front and back panels - include the main promotion features to the pack these are used to draw the customers in. they tend to have the artist name photos and track list.
 The inside - includes more of the information this is where the CD is held and this can also include things such as lyric books and band profiles. the theme inside is more subtle this doesn't include as many photos of people as this is not the main part that is promoting the sales of the product.

The front
This needs to have a bold and eye-catching image on the front this needs to either be the artist or something that is easily related to the style. the album title needs to be on this to help identify who the digipak is from.

The Back
This needs to have the track list and other extra info on the artist this can include the record label. this is important because this shows the viewer what genre of music the artist is related with. this needs to have an effective image because this is one of the main things that the viewer looks at before purchasing this product.

The Inside
This needs to have the CD and a matching style that is used on the outside of the product. this can also include other features such as band profiles and lyric books. I think that by including features like this is allows the product to have a better impact on the viewer as they feel like they are getting more for their money.
